Special Memberships

Now you can get a Special Membership in r/FortniteBR to improve your experience on the subreddit. This comes with features that help you stand out, express yourself in different ways, and connect with other people who really care about the community. I’ve spoken to hundreds of people from the subreddit to develop these ideas, and we’re very excited about them.

Starting today, people with the Special Membership have two types of badges next to their username and also the ability to add animated emojis to their comments. Over time, we will be adding even more features, like GIFs in comments, Achievement Badges, and a Members Lounge.

Badges

The first badge is the Loyalty badge. It changes over time, so people see how long you’ve been a Special Member (1 month, 3 months, 6 months, etc).

The second one is a Style badge, which gives your username a matching color, and it is based on popular things from the subreddit. We will be releasing 8 new Style badges every month, which Special Members add to their ever-growing collection.

Emojis & Reactions

How to add emojis

Comment only with emojis to make them bigger

As a Special Member, you can also add emojis to your comments. Like badges, these are custom to the subreddit, and several of them are also animated. Emojis are currently only on the web, but will be coming to mobile shortly.

There are other features for the Special Membership that we will be adding soon. For example, the ability to add GIFs within comments. And also a Members Lounge, a place where Special Members can hang out with each other.

The Special Membership is a paid subscription feature, and the fees help support the development of these new features. This is something we're doing for r/FortniteBR, and our small team of developers is very excited to be working on it!

Hi r/FortniteBR,

I’m an admin & Reddit dev. I work on a team here at Reddit that is building special features for r/FortniteBR. There’s something I’ve been working on that I wanted to share.

One thing people have been telling us is that they want a way to add a personality to their presence on the subreddit. Something like a skin, but for Reddit.

We started thinking about this, and we came up with an idea: Badges.

When you have a badge, it will be displayed before your username, and your username will be distinguished with a matching color.

This is what badges look like on web

And this is what they look like on mobile

Notice the badge comes before the username, so you can still have flair on the other side.

The badges are custom designed just for this subreddit, with images, memes, and jokes that have become popular here.

Some potential badges

Some of the badges may be limited edition, so they will only be available to the first few people who get them. In the future, we also want to get more ideas from the community for new badges that we can keep making.

Hi r/FortniteBR,

I’m an admin & Reddit dev. I work on a team here at Reddit that is building special features for r/FortniteBR. There’s something I’ve been working on that I wanted to share.

One thing people have been telling us is that they want a way to add a personality to their presence on the subreddit. Something like a skin, but for Reddit.

We started thinking about this, and we came up with an idea: Badges.

When you have a badge, it will be displayed before your username, and your username will be distinguished with a matching color.

This is what badges look like on web

And this is what they look like on mobile

Notice the badge comes before the username, so you can still have flair on the other side.

The badges are custom designed just for this subreddit, with images, memes, and jokes that have become popular here.

Updates to Promotional Guidelines and Posts Based Around Nostalgia

Rule Changes

Hello everyone, we have recently been revisiting our promotional guidelines and rules in regards to posts based around nostalgia. We have had many internal discussions about this, and have been monitoring community feedback.

We have settled on the following rule changes:

Promotional Guidelines

-Users may post any watermark(s). However we do not allow advertising of other subreddits, websites, apps, or self-hosted projects.

This should make it much easier for users to watermark their projects. The rule used to read that you would need a 10:1 ratio with comments outside of your own posts. However feedback has shown this rule was very hard to understand for our users. As such it has changed to allow any watermark that isn't explicitly prohibited.

Posts Based Around Nostalgia

-If your post is based around nostalgia, you may only post on Throwback Thursdays (EST). If you post on any other day, your post will be removed.

This one is pretty straight forward. Nostalgia posts used to be prohibited entirely, then we started allowing them again. We saw many users voice their desire for and against nostalgia posts. We realized we needed some sort of compromise. We recently ran a poll to see how the community felt, and it ended up 60/40 in favor of keeping nostalgia. This has led us to allow nostalgia posts, but only on Thursdays. The first "Throwback Thursday" starts tomorrow at 12am EST.

We believe this will help reduce posts deemed to be "karma farmy" and also relieve stress from creators who need to watermark projects for multiple platforms.

I'm Sorry, Random Teammates

My squad lands at Salty Springs wearing their newly acquired season 9 battle pass skins. They all drop at the same house and get a total of 6 mini shields, a grey pistol, and a few grenades to share between the three of them.

The only teammate with a gun sees an enemy and immediately takes a shot

It misses.

4 hell spawn soccer skins turn and dead sprint towards my squad. They quadruple layer ramp push using all metal and easily attain high ground. Way down below, my teammates start to panic and try to run to the safety of a nearby house. One soccer skin chuckles.

“These kids are bots” He screeches.

He then lasers one of my squadmates with an infantry rifle and my team builds a small 1 by 1 for cover. The small wooden box provides very little support against the barrage of drum gun fire that commences soon after. Little by little, bullets begin to sneak through their turbo builds and slowly eat away at their shields.

The soccer skins then descend upon my team’s 1 by 1 and replace every wall. With a swift edit and a few quick shotgun shots, my teammates’ health bars hit zero.

They cry into their microphones

“He’S oNe ShOt”

(An exaggerated claim after connecting a single pick-axe strike)

“ThEy ArE sUpEr LiT”

(A blatant lie)

My teammates then continue to sputter incoherent nonsense as they slowly bleed out. Little by little, their red health bars slowly dissipate into nothing. Their cries for help rapidly grow more desperate as their health dips below double digits. Their hopefulness disappears as they look at the minimap and see that help isn’t coming. The last few seconds of their lives are spent helplessly watching as the soccer skins “take the L” over their downed bodies.

One soccer skins laughs and then asks his chat to “clip that”

His 1 viewer on Twitch doesn’t clip it.

Because,

I am the 1 viewer

Deep within the safety of my bush, hundreds of meters away, I patiently wait for enemies to die so I can complete my “outlive opponents in squad mode” challenge. I pull up the soccer skin’s Twitch, after seeing it in the killfeed, and watch my teammates get downed, danced on, and then executed. I turn off the stream, sink deeper into my bush and make a VERY IMPORTANT mental note to switch to “Don’t fill” for my next squad game.

I’m sorry, Random Teammates.

Horde Rush PROTIP... Those doin the Horde Rush and strugglin to kill the final boss cuz your teammates are absolute BOTS. Build a 2-4 wide ramp high enough till you can lead him up and edit him off to kill him instantly with fall damage. Credit to my Xbox friend “Appie9089” :)

Is anyone getting considerably way more pissed off when they die?

All the way from season 3 - 8 I didn’t get pissed off when dying early game. I was fine, I knew I was outplayed. The other player was simply just better with the same weapons and I needed to get better. Nowadays it’s just because you have 5 tacs and somehow he found a combat and two proximity nade launchers.

One of my friends is a season 1 player and has loved this game since its conception. He loved every single season, some more than others, but he was one of the games biggest supporters no matter what decision epic made. He quit at the beginning of season 9 due to some decisions made by epic. He got online once in a while to see if epic changed anything.

He came back once to check out how the storm flip was and left our party after one squads game. Haven’t seen him online for a week. Moved onto 2K since. I don’t want to be one of those whiny sweats complaining about this game not being the “OG DAYS”. But we can’t ignore that there are problems with this game.

Another friend, who’s a complete casual, plays like once a week only to talk to friends and chill. First BP was S8, all that posterboy casual stuff. He used to play every day and laughed when he died and just loved talking to friends and playing the game. We loved his excitement when he got a single kill. Now he doesn’t play at all. Same reason, the game just isn’t the same.

There is no skill or practice involved in the battle of spamming a combat. Sensitivity and how fast you press the trigger determines your fate.

Don’t even get me started on the drum gun, boom bow, and the proximity launcher. There’s no way to combat them. In the season before, mid-game was a risky time. However you could really only a one hit third party if you had a sniper and there was a low chance of getting a rocket launcher mid game.

You had to sneak up and shotgun them if you wanted to one hit them. Now? 20 damage from 50 meters away, or a boom bow, or a proximity launcher. So many ways.

Oh, and I’m sick of a grey tac, 2 grey heavy ARs, a burst smg, and shadow bombs as my starting loadout. The loot pool is horrible. Past games have improved over time. This game is the opposite.

TL;DR: unpopular opinion, this game is only getting worse with the shitty loot pool and spam/rng based chance of a kill/winning.

What I think the loot pool should be in Arena and competitive tournaments. all meds/shield stay the same. Remove ballers keep other vechles the same.
