My 9-year-old son has been playing Fortnite for about 3 years now. He has around 50 friends or so, and many of them were regularly online and playing with him, until Chapter 5 Season 3. Since then, most of his friends have been offline and are just not playing anymore. It seems like all school kids have completely lost interest in Fortnite. What's going on?
Recently, after he complained no one was playing, I told him to ask some of his real-life friends and see why they're not playing anymore. Many of them said they thought the game was too hard now and they just couldn't win a match. Some said they got phones and are playing Brawl Stars instead. Others are playing less video games and are playing with their friends outside (awesome). So is this a general trend with kids everywhere?
I have to admit I've been playing much less since Chapter 5 Season 3. I've been trying to get back in the game since Season 4 was released, but it seems like nothing is pulling me in, and many things are pushing me out instead. For instance, I find the game doesn't feel as rewarding anymore. I mean, there's so many mythic / legendary / epic weapons and items everywhere that it never really feels "special" to have any of them. I also find that most lobbies have gotten so hard that I can hardly kill any human player I encounter. I used to play with my son to relax and have fun, but now even regular Battle Royal matches feel like a super competitive sweat fest. So, instead of playing 4-5 matches like I did before, I stop at 1 or 2 and call it a day, as the game often leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
So, what are kids around you saying about Fortnite these days? What's your own experience with the game as of late? Are you having fun?
I'd be happy to hear your opinions and experiences on this.
Cheers.
