Hey there! As the title suggests, I'm a 40 year old noob looking for some tips to get started in this game. I've played my fair share of fps games, but to be honest, I always sucked, and never got on the battle royale bus.
That is, until now. My tween soon is obsessed with this game so I thought it would be a good way to spend some time with him when he's away, as I only get to see him 4 days a month.
I started playing on the Switch but controllers make it even harder for me, so I unearthed my gaming mouse (that's old enough to get a driver's license) and started playing on PC. It was much better, could get a frag or two on each game. I'm mostly doing missions so I can help my son with those, and we only play no build.
I might not have the reaction time to really compete, but I'm starting to understand the rarity system, close/far range weapon, the importance of memorizing the maps, and that's making quite the difference. So I'm looking for tips to further up my game.
Ps: I'm pretty sure I missed all the slang, feel free to make fun of me, just be respectful. Bonus points for fellow kids references or gifs.
Pps: I tried the mobile version and what the hell, two victories in a row? I didn't expect it to be that much easier, but that's not the experience I'm looking for.
Edit: I'm not really interested in being competitive, just to survive long enough to have some fun with my kid. The games I lasted the most were probably those I didn't actually engage in any fights until the very end.
