Does anyone else feel that overall Fortnite has become too "corporate", or "monetized", or am I just an outlier?

I have played this game now for I would guess five-ish years? Whenever Chapter 1 Season 2 was a thing. I have been through all the highs and all the lows of this game. I have been through the double pump meta, I was there when jumping got nerfed, I was there for our first live event in season four.

I understand that Epic Games makes hella money off Fortnite. I understand the appeal to them to bring on so many creators and co-brand deals. I understand the collaborations. All that said, I do not like it as a player, and I am fully aware this could be my "boomer" like opinions coming out (think about it, eight year olds who are playing this game today were literal toddlers when I started).

Fortnite way back in the day had charm, plain and simple. It was all unique goofy characters. There was an overall more cartoon-like atmosphere to the game that mimicked "Save the World" (great game by the way, highly recommend). Fortnite served as an escape of today's current mega-franchises into a smaller, cuter, more lighthearted world, at least to me. Now Fortnite serves as a vessel to promote all the corporatization we all despise that makes us feel as if we are living in a dystopia in real life.

I just wanted to see if I was alone in feeling this way about a game I put a lot of time and money into, used to rekindle and expand relationships, and get through some harder times for myself personally. I look at this year's Fortnitemares and I see no charm. I see added a bunch of collab skins, recycled gimmicks and called it a day. I look at the old 2018 Fortnitemares trailer, the one from Season 6 I believe (my personal favorite season, remember the glitch that got you a free 250 battle stars?) and miss the days of Fortnite being a fun, charming, and innocent game.

Now I look around and am reminded on a daily basis, "yes, you do live in a hyper monetized and corporate world, it touches everything and everything it touches becomes flat and shallow; it becomes corporate sanitized."
