Yesterday, January 21st, I received my new gamepad for my PC. I had never used one. So I started opening some games that I like and currently play to try it.
Two of these games were Rocket League and Fortnite. So I switched to Rocket League and started playing some games. In that moment, Rocket League was in the foreground in fullscreen mode. All other games and applications were on the background and supposedly inactive.
After a while I switched to Fortnite, to see how it is to play with a controller, and noticed that I had some thousand vBucks missing. After checking I realized that Fortnite had been hijacking the input from the controller and executing commands on its own. While in the background and inactive. With no interaction with the user. Without permission, consent and even without my knowledge.
I sent an email immediately explaining what had happened and asking I they could fix this, cancel the operation and give me my vBucks back.
Please note that no other game or application received or intercepted any input from the keyboard, mouse or gamepad. Only Fortnite did this.
They say that returning my vBucks would be unfair to the community. And I can't believe it.
Some considerations:
It was a matter of minutes between the time the game made the purchuse on its own and the time I sent them an email notifying the fact.
I've bought things that I returned after some hours in the past using the tickets and without a word. But thats not what this is about.
I've spent some money and a lot of time in both BR and STW. And I use the vBucks in both games as well, but I'm most interested in things for STW.
After all this I have activated the 'Ignore Gamepad Input' setting. And won't be playing Fortnite with a controller. But to make sure, from now on, I will unplug the gamepad whenever an Epic Games app is running.
I would attach an screenshot, but reddit moderators told me to don't post anything which is not in english so I will have to go back to the game change the language setting and take the screenshot again.
I contacted Epic Support and they told me to post it here. So here it is. Well here it will be in 7 days when my post is allowed to go through. What a joke of reporting system.
