Hi all, hope you guys are doing well! So this will be kind of a long read, but I have a special request for EPIC, and seeing as they are so active and listen to the community a lot, I figured I’d give it a shot. Some of you might have seen this story earlier in the "Epic Plz" thread, but I figured I might as well try to get some visibility by making this post.
So since my parents are split-up, me and my brother do not see our father very often anymore, and it has been this way for a few years. It kinda sucks, so we always have been trying to find ways to stay in touch with him as much as we can, and since we both really like video games, we always tried to get him to play along with us. At first, we tried showing him COD, but he never got into it. We tried the same with NHL, same result. This went on like this with a lot of games, but he never got the hang of it and as much as he wanted to play with us, he just did not have any fun with all these games.
Then came Fortnite Battle Royale. My brother was the first one to download it after trying out PUBG on a PC in some gaming place. He instantly fell in love with the game and decided to show it to us. This was in the middle of Season 2. Needless to say that I instantly liked the game and started playing it a lot. But what was a great surprise for both me and my brother was that our father fell in love with the game as well and after a couple of weeks, he went and bought himself a PS4 along with a PS+ membership.
After that, he started playing with us a couple of nights per week, when he had some time to. Then, he started calling or texting us almost every night to play with him. Now, every night that we have the opportunity to do so, we play with him, which is a really great way to keep in touch with him while having tons of fun doing something that the three of us enjoy.
At first, we always landed in spots that were unpopular because our father wanted to have a little bit of loot at first without getting killed by someone directly after landing since he was far from being any good.
After a while, they added Lucky Landing to the map. Our father was the first one to visit it between the three of us after the update, and it instantly became his favorite spot. When we first played with him after the update, he was all happy to show us this new point of interest in the map and how he already knew all the spots in this part of the map. The problem is, it became way too intense, to the point where he does not want to land anywhere else than Lucky Landing.
"The bus starts there? Well great, let’s drop at Lucky Landing as soon as we can drop!"
"Boys, the bus is very far from Lucky Landing, why don’t we go there? We’ll be alone and have some loot!"
"We’re kind of in the middle so there can be people anywhere, might as well go to Lucky Landing, what do you think boys?"
Basically, every single reason is good for him to land at Lucky Landing. Now, even if we do not want to go there, he’ll land there, with or without us. This has become kind of a running gag in our family, even with the ones not playing Fortnite (mom, uncles and aunts, etc.) He takes it very seriously and he knows that we’re kind of making fun of him because of that and we always find new ways to laugh about it, which always (well, very often) make him laugh as well.
The other thing we like to make fun of is his PS4 name, which is star2000star. We do not know why he chose this, but god we found it so funny at first because of how ridiculous it looks. Of course, again, he knows we make fun of him because of that, but he likes to laugh about it as well and always like the new jokes we make about his name.
Being inspired by Mr Hillman’s funny story, I thought about this and figured I’d give it a shot and see if EPIC could do something about it. Basically, what I would like would be for something to be added in Lucky Landing with his name on it. It could maybe be only a panel with "Home of star2000star" on it, or maybe a grave with "Here lies star2000star, #100 once again" on it, just something to honour him since he likes this place so much. It would be yet another way to remind him about his passion for Lucky Landing, while being really funny and a good surprise for him the next time he lands there (well maybe not the next time since it should be in a couple of hours).
I know that the odds are that it won’t happen, but I figured it was worth trying.
