Console players would really appreciate an official response regarding the removal of forced cross platform. The game currently feels very unfair and unfun if you're a console player.

The post yesterday reached 15k upvotes and yet we still have no response from Epic.

Console players in both the megathread that was removed and my post yesterday are all expressing their disappointment with this season and their dissatisfaction with forced cross platform. The least Epic can do is respond to this major issue that is effectiving the entire console player base. Ignoring our concerns is not appreciated, we want a fair and balanced playing field on console, forced cross platform does not allow for that.

Console players are the majority of the player base and they are currently in a very disadvantagous position. PC players are offered numerous advantages over console players, this has been discussed at length. The game currently feels very unfair and unfun if you're a console player. Please let us know if you have any intentions of removing forced cross platform, please stop ignoring this very important issue.

A Comprehensive Guide To The Storm King LTM

Ok, lots of people are saying the mode is too hard or that the Storm King is OP and all sorts of stuff so I figured I'd write this guide up to try and help some of you out. Treat this big bastard like you would a raid in WoW or Destiny. It's gonna be tough, it's gonna take time but as you practice, you'll get better and faster at killing him.

The Storm King's Attacks

The Storm King has multiple attacks, some more powerful than others but all of them are telegraphed.

Laser Beam/Breath Attack-His most powerful and dangerous attack. This can down you instantly so avoid it all costs. You'll know when he's winding it up by seeing his eyes glow brighter and his body will glow bright purple as well. If you see that happening, RUN! Go left or right, doesn't matter, just move as soon as he begins to charge it up. It cannot track you so once he locks in where he's gonna attack, it'll unleash. If you've moved, he'll miss. Do not go near teammates that are DBNO when this attack is coming. He will kill anyone who is DBNO if they get hit. He'll open the fight with this attack.
Energy Pulse-Completely harmless to players. He'll tuck his arms into his body and spin around several times. This ability does not damage players at all. Instead, it will destroy all player built structures and destroy any and all items currently on the ground such as ammo, guns and materials. See a weapon you want? Grab it before it's destroyed.
Rock Throw-Pfft, this ability is useless. Simply keep moving and he'll miss. If he clips you with it, it'll do 30 damage. As long as you stay topped up, this won't be an ability to worry about. He'll jam his fist into the ground and pull a rock out. After a few seconds, he'll throw it at the players. That's it.
Fiend Spawners-Fiends are vital to staying alive in this mode so when you see the Storm King raises his hands and get shocked by purple lightning, he's about to create spawners. He'll bring his hands down to the ground and release the lightning which will create up to 4 spawners depending on how many are currently still alive.
Meteor Strike-Only occurs in Phase 2 and 3 (explained later). ~~There's no physical tell from the Storm King himself for this one.~~ Slight correction here, it has a physical tell occasionally. You'll see him charge one hand then bring the other and swing his hands down. That will trigger this attack. Only the first wave will have the tell. Several more waves follow before he'll cast it again. Instead, keep an eye on the sky. Rifts will tear open that drop meteors after a few seconds. These hurt. Don't get caught in the blast. They can kill downed players so be careful!
Fist Slam/Claw Swipe-These attacks are his least used but are still dangerous due to the huge knockback they have. If he's about to slam his fist, he'll raise one arm up and clench his fist then slam it down. If he's about to claw swipe, he'll raise one arm and leave his hand open before swiping at nearby players. The claw swipe has a larger knockback and can launch you into the storm so keep your distance so he can't use it.

Damaging The Storm King

The Storm King has a simple system for how to damage him and it comes in several phases that will be explained later. To damage him though, simply shoot at the glowing yellow weak spots. Light those spots up and you'll eventually break one. Breaking a weak spot can also interrupt an attack if he's charging one up. Breaking 3 weak points will expose a Storm Horn.

Here's where the StW Storm King and BR Storm King differ. In StW, the pickaxe does more damage to him. In BR, ANY weapon will work. Pickaxes do not do increased damage (after testing, it hits for 35 damage, the same as a gold AR) so use whatever you've got and deal as much damage to the horn as possible. The health of the horns DO NOT RESET. Don't panic if you don't destroy a horn. Break the weak points again to expose the horn. You'll need to break both horns before you can take down the Storm King.

Once both horns are destroyed, you'll be able to open fire on the Storm King himself. He's now completely vulnerable so whatever you've got, lay it into him. His health bar here is substantial so you're gonna need all the damage you can get here. Rocket launchers and turrets are good here.

Once his health is depleted, congratulations! You've just scored a Nightmare Royale!

Phases Of The Fight

As the fight progresses, things will get harder but the loot gets better.

Phase 1 (Destroy the first horn)-Grey and Green weapons with small chance of blue weapons. At this stage, Fiends are weak. You'll only get regular fiends and brutes. They're both easy to take down and only have melee attacks. Kill them to get more ammunition and weapons. Destroy the spawners to get medical supplies-this includes Slurp Juices and Chug Splashes.

Phase 2 (Destroy the second horn)-Green and Blue weapons are more common here with a chance for purple weapons to drop. Thrower Fiends will join the fray now and on rare occasions, a Golden Brute will spawn. Golden Brutes are not as hard as they were in Chapter 1 so you can take them down easily. They're guaranteed to drop a purple/gold weapon. Fiend presence increases and the Storm King permanently uses Meteor Strike from now until the end of the fight. The safe zone will shrink when this phase begins.

Phase 3 (Kill the Storm King)-Same weapon rarities as Phase 2. Fiend presence is at it's highest here. Keep on the move and spray them down to avoid being swarmed. Golden Brutes and Throwers spawn at increased levels. Poison Fiends can spawn in this phase. Keep your distance. When they die, they explode into a cloud like a stink bomb. Prioritise killing them if you're being chased down by a horde. Safe zone will shrink again at the start of this phase.

Working As A Team

This mode is all about working as a team. All players are working together meaning you need to help keep everyone alive. If you want to revive someone, make sure you're not being chased by a horde of Fiends and that the Storm King is not winding up an attack aimed at you. If you need to, pick the player up and carry them to safety before reviving. Get as far away from spawners as you can. Reviving takes the same amount of time as regular BR.

If you don't want to revive, protect those who are reviving. Stay on guard and take down any Fiends approaching. Your teammates will appreciate you having their back.

Don't throw people into the storm. All you're doing is sabotaging the team's efforts. If someone does do this, there's the option to report them for Abusive Gameplay under Harassment. I don't recommend doing this because it probably won't do a fat lot. Just move on to the next game knowing you can still win and they're gonna lose another game.

If you cannot get the revive off at that moment, keep Chug Splashes or the Bandage Bazooka handy. Both items can prolong the DBNO state giving you time to carry the player to safety or to clear out Fiends before you revive them. Every teammate that is alive increases the DPS of your team and lowers the time it will take to bring down the Storm King.

Fiends and the Spawners

Fiends are your key to surviving and getting better gear and more ammo. Keep taking them down. The more you kill, the more gear you and your team can get. They can drop ammo, materials and weapons.

Destroying spawners will give you the breathing room you need to damage the Storm King. Not only that, destroying a spawner will drop a good chunk of medical supplies and can sometimes drop a mounted turret.

Spawners will continually spawn Fiends and only take damage from players. The Storm King's abilities do not damage the spawners so don't expect him to do the work for you.

Explosives deal increased damage to spawners as well so if you have grenades (deals 375 damage per hit to spawners), use them.

General Tips For Survival

Stay on the move. If you stand still for too long, Fiends will catch up to you or you'll eat an attack from the Storm King which could prove fatal. Stay mobile and you'll stand a greater chance of survival.
Keep on killing Fiends to keep your shields topped up. They grant small amounts of shield for each one you kill so don't stop killing them.
Stay away from the very edge of the storm. If you get caught by one of the Storm King's attacks, it may end up launching you into the storm and you'll be done for at that point. Storm damage is significant in this mode so stay away from the edge just to be safe.
You start with a grey pistol but multiple chests spawn on the island. Go straight to the island and crack open a chest or two so you've got some basic items before the fight begins. Landing at any of the landmarks or POIs nearby is a waste of time. You won't have time to loot.
Try to keep an eye on the Storm King as much as possible. You're more likely to survive if you see an attack coming.
Some of the Storm King's attacks can be blocked by building. If you need to revive someone during a Meteor Strike, build a roof. It can block the meteors and you'll be able to revive the player.
Recommended loadout is Assault Rifle, SMG, Explosive Weapon, Healing Items/Bandage Bazooka. You need a mix of damage and healing in this fight at all times.

Good luck everyone. Hopefully this helped give you a better idea of how you can survive and win the fight to get that umbrella! (and for those of you who want to hit Tier 100, this mode gives very high amounts of XP so I recommend playing as much as you can while it's here)

Fortnite Extra Life Charity Event and Giveaway - Year 3

What is Extra Life?

Extra Life unites thousands of gamers around the world to play games in support of their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Since its inception in 2008, Extra Life has raised more than $40 million for sick and injured kids. It is a 24-hour gaming marathon to raise funds and awareness for these kids across U.S and Canada. The donations stay local to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment, and charitable care.

Previous Extra Life Events

2017: We raised over $4,000, smashing our initial goal of $1000, for Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center, located near Epic Games’ studio. We partnered with various streamers to give away a ton of Save The World Game Keys, as well as this smasher statue.

2018: Extra Life was a tremendous success last year. With the help of some awesome streamers, we were able to raise over $11,000 for Duke Children’s Hospital. Thank you to everyone who streamed, donated, and watched streams.

Dates:

Extra Life will take place Saturday November 2, 2019 over a 24-hour period from Midnight to Midnight Eastern Standard Time. We will be hosting a Fortnite Extra Life event for 12 hours from 10:00am to 10:00pm EST

Extra Life 2019: What's happening?

This year in a push to build a closer community, we have reached out to the community to help us host this year. SquattingDog, xTikTakx, and DemonJoeFrance will be hosting various STW, BR, and Creative maps! The Fortnite Mods will be joining in the fun this year and will be hosting 99 player matches and creative maps for some awesome swag from Epic Games. More details will follow as the day approaches.

How to Win

For every $5 USD donated to the team between now and 11/3, 12:00am EST, you will receive 1 entry into the drawing. The drawing will be recorded and posted with the winners approximately 1 week after the event ends. We will be reaching out to the winners no later than November 17th and they must confirm response within 48 hours of being contacted or the prize will be forfeited and redrawn. Contact will be made through the email provided when donating to Extra Life. All prizes with the exception of the Swag Packs will be in this drawing. The swag packs will be given away throughout the event by the streamers.

You may only win a donated prize one time and the first prize drawn; if your name is drawn a second time, it will be immediately redrawn. The swag packs do not count toward this limit. Additionally, in the event a winner is chosen and they do not meet the delivery requirements of a prize they won, we will first work with them to attempt to have the prize shipped to a valid delivery address. We will make every attempt to work with them to get them their prize. If no conclusion can be reached, the prize will be forfeited and redrawn. Unfortunately, with the nature of this drawing and complexity involved, this is the best option. Additionally, all winners must be comfortable sharing their shipping address with a moderator.

Let's drop the whole "OG SKIN" mindset altogether

All I can say is, the day Ghoul Trooper comes back to the item shop, it's gonna be unbearable. Let's not cry about a skin returning in what is essentially a free-to-play game. You aren't entitled to something free to compensate your fragile soul just because a skin came back.

What makes a skin good isn't how old it is, or how "rare" it is. It's how good it looks. It's a skin. It's a cosmetic. It doesn't change how the game works or how you play. If a skin from a battlepass gets thrown into the item shop, then yeah, I would complain too. But it's a friggen item shop skin returning.

I'm sorry if this comes off as "salty" or "toxic", but I just want this mindset to go away. It's one of the biggest, if not the biggest factor that's harming this game.

We have noticed an increase in threads regarding SBMM and forced crossplay. We would like to consolidate all the feedback to one thread, please voice your concerns and opinions on SBMM and forced crossplay within this thread.

Current top hot conversations regarding SBMM and forced crossplay at the time of this post

SBMM is great but forced Cross Play has to go! You can turn off Cross Play for solos but not any other mode.

Console players don’t stand a chance.

PC Players DON’T belong in CONSOLE Lobbies (day3)

Cross platform - It's like a formula 1 car against a nascar on a formula 1 track. The nascar driver can be just as skilled as the formula one driver but the outcome is almost inevitable

Why has communication from epic basically stopped?

-We stopped getting patch notes until afterwards...

-We still don't know how SBMM works...

-We don't know what determines number of bots...

-The whole "medals" thing carried no explanation...

-The "achievements" are a mystery, most don't work...

-No idea how supercharged XP really works...

-There was no list of changes from SX to Ch2...

Just seems odd...one of the cool things about Epic/Fortnite was how interactive they were with the community. Now...? Nothing...

Am I the only one that enjoys the bots...

Yes, I know they are dumb, like really really dumb, but hear me out. For a mediocre player at best like myself, wiping a squad of bots gives me a sense of power that even the best players need every now and again. Then the next group of players I see, I no longer cower in fear in a 1x1 or a bush. Since I got all these kills, I have that confidence that I can go against anybody. So what happens next... well, I rush them, throwing builds up as fast as i can in no sense of purpose or design. However I did it, I didn't sit back and wait. I went on the offensive. The bots have completely changed my playstyle from a defensive to an aggresive state and I'm really enjoying it so far. I know it's not alot for some of you guys, but 7 wins over the course of the weekend is a huge accomplishment and really exciting for me. I personally want to thank Epic for the bots and i hope they add an all bot mode in the future for brand new players, so they don't get scared off.

What we know about E.G.O. (Updated and with pictures, Spoiler I guess)

Keep in mind this is not a theory, it is based on what we know.

So first of all, we know EGO was here before us. You can spot their bases all throughout the map. These bases include their science station, staging post, barracks, hangar, and communications tower. As of now there is no evidence to what they are working on in any of the locations.

We also know that they may be responsible for the “alter egos” of all the battle pass outfits, especially because all of the battle pass outfits have EGO’s logo on their clothes. There is also another corporation, called ALTER, that I will talk about later.

Turk (EGO) & Riptide (ALTER)

Rippley (EGO) & Sludge (ALTER)

8-Ball (EGO) & Scratch (ALTER)

Remedy (EGO & Toxin (ALTER)

Now for the part that connects EGO to the main story. Before the opening cinematic (when we were looking at the black hole), there was text in the bottom left corner that basically said, “The sheer amount of matter surrounding the zero point is amazing”(referencing the black hole that was created by the amount of compressed matter that was sucked into Loot Lake in The End) and that they needed a place to resume operations. They then said they would send down a team to explore the island. That team was made of Journey, Turk, 8-Ball, and Rippley, who came down in a crashed EGO plane.

Coincidentally, the battle bus also decided that was the new island to host their battle royale. EGO also said that others may be watching, and these might be the people they were referring to.

Now to talk about ALTER. ALTER is EGO’s enemy, as evidenced by all of the current battle pass skins that were on the bus in the trailer were in their alter ego style.

There are two prime suspects for who is running ALTER:

-Toxin (the alter ego style for Remedy), as evidenced by her mask most likely being the logo of ALTER. She also may be the one running the experiments, but not the leader.

Notice her mask is very close to the ALTER logo

-Fusion, as shown by his outfit description, "Merged into one" and the fact that he has no EGO style. His set is also closely related to the Zero Point, so he could be using zero point energy to fuse alter egos. He could also be a failed experiment of ALTER.

Most importantly, we know that The Bridge is still intact (also said by EGO!) If you don’t know The Bridge is probably the Zero Point/in-between dimension, basically a super Highway between time and space. This means that there must be rift technology on this map for Kevin to get to the original map(if you want a theory on that let me know.)

“Supercharge Weekend” isn’t our savior, it only highlights the issues in the new system

As it stands right now, the only ways you will be able to complete your Battle Pass is by playing a near impossible amount for anyone with a life, by buying tiers, or by slaving your life away to this game during their arbitrary “supercharged XP, “double XP”, whatever it may be events.

For anyone that didn’t believe they would implement an intentionally terrible leveling up system, you underestimate the lengths Epic Games will go to increase their playtime/profits.

They took the old system, which was totally fine for us players and allowed you to get the rewards you paid for without dedicating your life to the game, to a new system that forces you to either buy tiers or play on a certain set of days. It’s a system that only benefits them. If you’re defending this, you’re defending a system that isn’t made to help your experience, only hurt it.

I’m not casual, but I can only imagine how much this system will hurt casual players. "More fun, less grind" my ass. It's much more grind for the same rewards as before. And it’s a shame, because I like mostly everything else this season has to offer.

This Xp system needs to change ASAP! Either make it less than 80,000 xp to level up, reward us with more xp, or change it back how it was in Season ! Epic we only get a total of one tier for completing 11 challenges thats so unfair! 14 x 11 = 154,000 and to level up twice u need a total of 160,000

MASSIVE Cross-Play Problem

Why are there not more people complaining about the forced cross-play? This is pure bullshit — being forced to enable cross-play in order play duos/squads. No game should FORCE cross-play against PC on it’s players. If someone doesn’t want to play vs. PC they shouldn’t have to.

Make two options:

Console vs. Console(s) Cross-Play (Consoles will only matchmake against other console players that have this setting enabled)
Console vs. All Cross-Play (Console/PC players will only matchmake against other PC/Console players that have this setting enabled)

Epic, we need more xp. Fortnite is not a full-time job

I was wondering how much xp was needed for completing the battle pass and this is what I got so far.

For now it looks like every level needs 80000 xp https://fortnitedb.com/v2/db/BattleRoyale/Levels. Playing several games and looking how much the 10 xp bars fill up suggest this is true. level 8 to 9 and 9 to 10 look like 80k xp, so lets assume this is correct.

What do (I think) we know?

We need 7.640.000 xp for tier 100.
There are 9 sets of "weekly" challenges which (probably) all have 11 challenges for 14000xp each.
Every day we get a new medal punchcard for 24k xp.
Xp gained per game mainly consists out of survival and combat xpSurvival xp = opening chests, ammo boxes, supply drops etc.Combat xp = elmins, assists, distance of an elim etc.
The season contained 54 days.
All 11 weekly challenges give a total of 9*11*14000=1.386.000xp
Filling the medal punchcard evey day gives a total of 54*24000=1.296.000xp
A good team rumble game gives 6000 xp per game.20 kills + some assists + opening 12 chests and/or supply drops + ammo crates. 3000 combat xp, 3000 survival xpThe first games you played gave a lot of survival xp because you got xp for uncovering the map. (I think)
We play 3 hours a game.

Now all of this might be true, but it also might not be true. For now lets use all the info as valid information. This would mean the following for xp requirements towards getting tier 100 on the last day of the season.

No challenges, just xp through the game.

Xp required= 7.640.000
Xp per day = 141.482
Games per day = 24
Time per day = 8h

All weeklies completed. (7.640.000-1.386.000)

Xp required= 6.254.000Xp
per day = 115.815
Games per day = 20
Time per day = 6h40m

All weeklies completed and punchcard everyday. (7.640.000-1.386.000-1.296.000).

Xp required= 4.958.000
Xp per day = 91.815
Games per day = 16
Time per day = 5h20m

A lot of things are assumed as the truth, so there is a high change this is inaccurate, but I still think there isn't a fair amount of xp in the game. Also I think 6k xp per game is quite high which would mean more time to play per day to get tier 100 is actually needed. I didn't include the 30% bonus xp from the previous battle pass since it only gives 300 xp per game.

If I look at this, I really think epic has to make some changes to the xp system in the game. Even for getting tier 100 in a battle pass, which should require atleast some kind of effort, this is way to much.

Now please tell me how I'm completely wrong and there's no need to worry, that would be nice! ^^

Edit: Like I said in the text above, I've made quite a few assumptions and went with that. This means there's a good change things are inaccurate, wrong, stupid or whatever. This post is aimed towards speculation and discussion about what's going on with the xp and finishing the battle pass.
