Turbo Building Delay Follow-Up

We’ve identified the reason for Turbo Building feeling inconsistent for some players after our August 28th adjustments.

We’ve released a hotfix to mitigate this issue and will release a lasting fix in our next client update.

I work for Child Protective Services, and as you could imagine, it can be difficult to interface with children when times get tough. I played fortnite through season 6, and loved the game, but quickly realized that I didn’t have the time I needed to be good like I wanted to be. I decided to hang it up and focus on other forms of enjoyment, but I’ve remained a lurker in this sub and have watched the game progress. Watching Kevin smash the map, seeing tilted get demolished, watching all of the mini-clips and events has been awesome as an outside observer. All of that is to say, Fortnite has been a connection point for me and for the children that I work with day after day. Even when having a hard conversation, and a child needs a mental break, a simple question like “what’s your favorite Fortnite skin?” goes a long way in breaking down trust barriers. Having an adult that can relate to their interests goes a long way in building a relationship and ensuring honestly, stability, and safety. So thank you, Epic Games, for making a game that spans across multiple generations and allows me to better perform my job.

Turbo Build Changes Update

Hey all,

The Turbo Build delay adjustments we made yesterday to subsequent structure pieces placed have been changed back to their previous value, 0.005* seconds. Your ability to perform “90s” and “waterfall” should feel exactly the same as it did before yesterday’s changes.

We’ve also added some of the “Next Steps” that were mentioned in yesterday’s Turbo Build Changes blog. Now when a structure is destroyed, there will be a delay of 0.15 seconds before another structure can be placed in the same location. If two or more players attempt to build a structure in the same location at the same time right after a piece has been destroyed, a random roll will now determine which player’s structure is placed. With this, we aim to reduce the impact that ping has on “taking a wall” as well as mitigate situations where spamming walls in the same location prevents all incoming damage to the defender.

What Changed?

Turbo Building timing for placing subsequent pieces changed back to 0.005* seconds from 0.15 seconds.
After a structure is destroyed, there will be a timer of 0.15 seconds before another piece can be placed in the same location.
- If two players are attempting to place a piece at the same time and location where a piece was just destroyed, a random roll will determine whose piece is placed, instead of ping playing such a large role.

B.R.U.T.E. Balance Adjustments

Heya folks,

We have made several adjustments to the B.R.U.T.E., these changes are now live in all game modes and you do not need to download or patch your client.

We will also be temporarily disabling the Junk Rift, due to an audio issue, for this weekend's FNCS tournament and Arena playlists until the 10.20 update.

B.R.U.T.E.

Decreased the maximum amount of rockets fired by the B.R.U.T.E. in a single charge from 10 to 6.
Decreased the rate at which the rockets are fired from the B.R.U.T.E. by 56%.
- Our goal with these changes is to increase the back and forth between the users of the B.R.U.T.E. and the players they face. These changes allow the players on the receiving end of the missile volley to have more time to react and protect themselves.
Decreased the radius of the B.R.U.T.E.’s rocket explosion by 42%.
- Our goal here is to improve consistency and understanding around focused barrages of missiles. B.R.U.T.E.s will continue to be a strong option against structures, but less lethal against players.
Increased the dash cooldown from 3 seconds to 5 seconds.
- The previous dash cooldown not only increased the B.R.U.T.E.’s mobility, but also made the B.R.U.T.E.s a harder target to hit from distance than we’d like. This adjustment reduces the ability to close gaps quickly while in the B.R.U.T.E. while also increasing the ability to land shots on target for players facing the B.R.U.T.E.
Decreased the velocity gained from boosting while in air by 33%.
- We want to reduce a B.R.U.T.E.’s ability to engage and disengage at long distances to encourage a more strategic approach to an encounter. In general we hope to shift B.R.U.T.E.s away from being highly mobile and put more emphasis on their already defensive nature.
The B.R.U.T.E. no longer grants materials to the driver and passenger when stomping or dashing through the environment.
- Note: This change should roll out shortly following the other changes.
- Our goal is to add more tension between being in and out of a B.R.U.T.E. as well as reduce instances where players can farm faster than intended without exposing themselves to danger.
Adjusted the variability of spawn rates for storm phases 1, 2, and 3 in core modes. Arena spawn rates will remain unchanged.
- Storm phase 1
  - New spawn rates
  - 29% chance to spawn 0.
  - 14.3% chance to spawn 1.
  - 14.3% chance to spawn 2.
  - 14.3% chance to spawn 3.
  - 14.3% chance to spawn 4.
  - 14.3% chance to spawn 5.
  - Old spawn rates
  - 33% chance to spawn 2.
  - 33% chance to spawn 3.
  - 33% chance to spawn 4.
- Storm phase 2
  - New spawn rates
  - 25% chance to spawn 0.
  - 25% chance to spawn 1.
  - 25% chance to spawn 2.
  - 25% chance to spawn 3.
  - Old spawn rates
  - 33% chance to spawn 2.
  - 33% chance to spawn 3.
  - 33% chance to spawn 4.
- Storm phase 3
  - New spawn rates
  - 25% chance to spawn 0.
  - 25% chance to spawn 1.
  - 25% chance to spawn 2.
  - 25% chance to spawn 3.
  - Old spawn rates
  - 33% chance to spawn 1.
  - 33% chance to spawn 2.
  - 33% chance to spawn 3.
- Previously, the early stages of a match were guaranteed a minimum amount of B.R.U.T.E.s. We’d like to provide a little more variance to that experience so that matches don’t always play out the same way. The overall average number of B.R.U.T.E.s per game is reduced slightly.
Decreased the material cost of using the gunner’s overshield from 200 to 75.
- Our goal is to further emphasize use of materials for positive defensive benefit.
Increased the Health of the B.R.U.T.E from 1000 to 1250.
- With the above changes, users of the B.R.U.T.E. need to play a bit more strategic than before, so we want to give a little bit longer of a window to do so.

Junk Rift

The Junk Rift has been temporarily removed from Arena playlists

Imagine throwing a $400,000 tournament only to ruin it

CourageJD, Tfue, Cloak and Bugha have all quit the tournament because of the metal behemoths.

Can you not see how upset Courage is? We love this game, but you’ve gotta do something Epic. Clearly all of the people in these tournaments love your game but it’s getting hard to stay with it when you have shit like this happening at the same time.

Fix it Epic, you’re ruining it for yourself.

The Future of Fortnite

I’ve thought about this a lot as I do truly love this game and don’t want to stop playing it.

This post will try be aimed at all types of players (starters, casual players and competitive players).

Looking at the twitch right now, and seeing the lack of big streamers playing the game at peak time really makes me wonder how we have got this point. The company was great for so many seasons at balancing the game for casuals, sweats and beginners. The game was simply amazing and it’s success came from people having fun, learning new things and connecting with one another.

It’s clear that the BR is in a very unstable position right now with a large portion of the community upset with how the mode plays.

Here is how I think the future of Fortnite should play out:

- Simplify the BR experience

Stop experimenting on the largest mode in the game and take it back to its fundamentals. Gunplay and building.

I know a portion of players don’t like coming across really experienced players that know how to build to a high level and you have no counter for them. Adding items to counter building is not the way.

This BR experience is about the building, it’s about being able to protect yourself at all times.

Any item that plays against building, plays against the nature of the game.

Instead at matchmaking for new players so they can’t face people of high account level.

Allow high skilled streamers to entertain their audiences with building and gunplay.

Simplify the BR, keep a good plot and make challenges interesting.

- Help the competitive scene

These poor players have learn’t to play the game to its highest level, putting 1000s of hours into mastering this game. Right now they have to deal with several items that simply have no counter and negate any skill they have gained.

For example, they are in a late game circle with 20 other people with not many places to move without risking their game and a dinosaur drops on their head out of no where and one shots them.

Stop making the competitive scene about the spectacle of these uncountable weapons and start focusing on the true skill in the game.

Money will always incentivise people to play your competitive mode but people won’t want to stream it or watch it if they best players aren’t being shown off.

I respect that you want ‘anyone to be able to win’ but people have to earn it and not win the lottery.

- Focus on Fortnite Creative

BR fatigue may already be setting in, turn your head towards a mode that can actually constantly evolve and adapt to different trends.

BR can only be the top mode for so long, and messing with the fundamentals of the game to counter this fatigue is not going to help it in the long run. Instead simplify the BR experience and focus your weekly updates on making creative into something truly special.

Creative is the most stable factor in this game right now, there is a mode for everyone and their are so many more modes and maps to be made.

Creative is your opportunity to go crazy on new features & items for the community to try out. The vehicles you add to the game fit so perfectly with the creative.

Creative is the perfect place for new players to learn the game. They can play mini BRs, zone wars, 1v1s and other modes to get them to learn the fundamentals of the game.

Creative is perfect place for casual players. It gives them an opportunity try new modes and enhance their skills whilst playing with friends.

Creative is great for competitive players. We have already seen how much competitive players use creative to get better and push the way building is used in battle royale. Keep providing them this playground and they will stay.

- Save the world

I think it’s about time to make this bad boy go free to play. Give millions of BR players the other side to fortnite, this may bring in new players that never liked the building aspect of BR and introduce them to the fundamentals of the game.

Fortnite will 100% will go down as one of the greatest games ever. Let’s solidify that legacy!

EDIT - Gonna be adding any other cool suggestions here:

Server Browse for creative, so people can join your creative modes. This will make it easy to populate mini BRs, zone wars etc
Add new items/vehicle to creative or a test server first. If creative is the games main mode then the hype for the item will still be there.

The statement made by Epic is a slap in the face to everyone that made an effort to get better at the game.

What was the point? All the hours put into the game to become a good player were for what? Should've just waited for Epic to give us items so we don't have to practice huh. And they still have the audacity to have a competitive mode. Fucking mind boggling.

I like Season X

I'm seeng a lot of hate these days, so I wanted to remmeber how good the current season actually is!

Here are some of the best things about Season X:

Very cool new skins <3
Additional styles to old skins <3
Umbrella with a trail <3
LTMs are actually interesting <3
The annoyng Fortbytes are gone <3
Brand new type of POI with unique mechanics <3
Remember the damn planes, quad crashers and ballers...yeah - gone <3
Unique type of challenges + prestige, for people dedicated to the game <3
There are a few interesting events comming up, cant't wait <3
Easy way to do your challenges in the Team Rumble mode <3
Save The World (yeah, I love the original Fortnite) got a locker <3

we have seen worst! People are always negative for changes. I love Season XD
