The State of Console Fortnite.

So i'm a bit of a bot player (PS4) , but i still enjoy playing Squads with my friends , who are just as a bot as i am.

So about a while ago i decided to partake in the Console Generations Cup (My first ever Cup) , just for the heck of it. I had grinded a bit Arena in the previous Seasons so i thought i knew what to expect (Sort of).

How wrong i was...

I was legitimately expecting to get destroyed repeatedly without even managing to get some damage in.

So imagine my surprise when i actually didn't die right off the bat, and even more surprisingly, i also performed much better than expected.

I didn't even come close to winning any prizes, cuz i'm a bot like i said earlier, but what really blew my mind was that in general, it was much easier than not only Arena , but even pubs.

Let me rephrase that. a Cup was easier (and less sweaty) than freaking pubs.

And honestly the only reason for that is because there was no Cross-Play in that Cup.

I was honestly bewildered. It's not like i didn't know that Cross-Play makes the game much harder for Console Players before but holy cow, i had no idea how nice it was playing in a Console-Only lobby with players on roughly your own skill level, or even above it but not by a huge margin.

I honestly had fun in Fortnite for the first time in months, it felt amazing.

However this isn't the reason i'm writting this as of now.

Last night, i was looking forward to hopping on my PS4 and playing some Squad games with my friends, after a very tiresome day.

And i kid you not, in nearly every match we'd get shit on by a PC God-Squad that we realistically had no chance against.

It was frustrating beyond belief.

In one instance, we got 1v4'd by an Anonymous with 24 kills. We then proceeded to spectate him winning the whole game, making crazy triple edits and tunneling everywhere (Without forgetting to "Laugh it up" on every elim he got) .

I wasn't even mad at this, just disheartened. It felt hopeless. It honestly felt like no matter how much we (Talking about me and my Squad) grind or improve, we will never stand a chance against players like these.

And it's not just a matter of Cross-Play, but SBMM also.

We constantly get put in lobbies with players so astronomically away from our Skill Level we need a telescope to see them.

The idea of SBMM inherently isn't bad. It's when it works in conjuction with Forced Cross-Play that it becomes a burden to, you know, enjoying the game.

I don't mind fighting against similarly skilled Console Players, even if i lose at the end. However fighting against PC players that can outedit me without breaking a Sweat and destroy me before i even realise what happened is honestly frustrating.

In Layman's Terms : The game simply doesn't feel fun anymore , and i'm inclined to call it borderline unplayable (On Console).

A game, first and foremost, should be fun (Unless you are Neil "We don't use the word fun" Druckmann) , and Fortnite hasn't felt fun for a good while.

A lot of my friends have quit the game for this very reason, and now only 4 of us still play. I honestly can't blame them tbh.

Forced Cross Play in tandem with a SBMM that we still don't know how it works exactly makes the game a very unpleasant experience.

RANT TIME: It honestly feels unfair. People whined about Aim Assist giving Console Players an "unfair competitive advantage" but are (Weirdly) completely silent when Cross Play puts all the Console Fanbase in a massive disadvantage yet (Almost) no one that has any short of influence (Content Creators, Pros etc) have said anything regarding this.

It's honestly hypocritical if you ask me. As long as they are the ones with the advantage i guess...

New Bricks Distribution (Round 8 Proposal)

Bricks are r/FortNiteBR's version of Community Points. Community Points are a way for users to be rewarded for their contributions to the subreddit, and they can be used on premium features in the community.

Bricks are distributed every 4 weeks based on contributions people make to r/FortNiteBR. For every distribution, Reddit publishes karma data as a default measure of contribution. The community can review the data and optionally propose an alternative distribution, if they wish.

This distribution is based on karma earned from 2020-11-25 to 2020-12-22. Here is the data.

To propose an alternative distribution:

• You can create a CSV with alternative contribution scores or propose changes to the algorithm used to calculate them from karma (as long as the changes can be implemented easily).
• The amount of Bricks distributed to a user will be proportional to their contribution score. Contribution scores cannot be negative.
• Make a poll to have the community vote on your proposal. Include an accurate description of the changes you are proposing.
• In order to pass, the winning option in the poll must meet the decision threshold (minimum number of Bricks in support). If it is in favor of the change, it becomes the official contribution measurement (unless there is evidence of abuse in the vote, such as bribery). Algorithm changes will carry forward to future distributions.
• In case of multiple polls passing, the one with the most Bricks cast in favor will be the official one.
• If no alternative passes, the data provided here will become official.

New Bricks Distribution (Round 8 Proposal)

Bricks are r/FortNiteBR's version of Community Points. Community Points are a way for users to be rewarded for their contributions to the subreddit, and they can be used on premium features in the community.

Bricks are distributed every 4 weeks based on contributions people make to r/FortNiteBR. For every distribution, Reddit publishes karma data as a default measure of contribution. The community can review the data and optionally propose an alternative distribution, if they wish.

This distribution is based on karma earned from 2020-11-25 to 2020-12-22. Here is the data.

To propose an alternative distribution:

• You can create a CSV with alternative contribution scores or propose changes to the algorithm used to calculate them from karma (as long as the changes can be implemented easily).
• The amount of Bricks distributed to a user will be proportional to their contribution score. Contribution scores cannot be negative.
• Make a poll to have the community vote on your proposal. Include an accurate description of the changes you are proposing.
• In order to pass, the winning option in the poll must meet the decision threshold (minimum number of Bricks in support). If it is in favor of the change, it becomes the official contribution measurement (unless there is evidence of abuse in the vote, such as bribery). Algorithm changes will carry forward to future distributions.
• In case of multiple polls passing, the one with the most Bricks cast in favor will be the official one.
• If no alternative passes, the data provided here will become official.

Maintenance Patch on PC and PS5

Hey, everyone,

We've released a maintenance patch on PC and PlayStation 5. On PC, this is to address stability. On PlayStation 5, this is to address Fortnite outputting at 1080p instead of 4K when not in 120 FPS Mode for players using certain displays.

With the release of this patch, for the "120 FPS Mode" option to appear in Fortnite on PS5, please make sure "Performance Mode" is enabled in your console settings (Save Data and Game/App Settings > Game Presets > Performance Mode).

For players who prefer 4K over 120 FPS, please make sure "Performance Mode" isn't enabled in your PS5 console settings

Welcome to r/FortniteBR’s Best of 2020!

It's that time of year we take a step back to look at the year that was and crown your best of 2020!

So how does it work?

You nominate the best post in each category using the template provided below and then the r/FortniteBR community will upvote their favorites.

Voting will close at 8am (EST) Friday January 1st 2021 – Click here for a countdown timer. After voting closes, the votes will be tallied and the best officially crowned the ‘Best of 2020’.

The Rules

• To be eligible for nomination, the post or comment must be posted during 2020.
  
• Nominations will only be eligible if they are posted as a comment to the relevant nomination category. Nominations outside of the nomination categories will be disqualified.
• Only one nomination will be accepted per post, comment or person in each category.
• Duplicate nominations will be removed with the first having priority.
• Reposts from previous years will not be accepted.
• All nominations must comply with the rules of subreddit.
• Vote manipulation will not be tolerated and will result in disqualification. This includes (but is not limited to) any form of karma or brick farming and using a call to action to rally the community to vote for you.
• In the interest of keeping things fair for everyone, nominees may only win one category. The nominee will be allocated ‘best of’ in the category they received the most votes.
