v7.30.1 Bug Fixes

Hey folks,

This morning we released a client update to resolve a few issues that appeared in the v7.30 update. Below you can find the list of issues that were addressed:

Battle Royale Bug Fixes

Fixed players getting stuck at loading screens
Fixed players continuing to see “Connection Lost” displayed in the UI, even while under good network conditions.
Mobile - Fixed being able to edit structures through the Reset Edit button while holding it.
- Example of this issue
Mobile - Fixed the keybind widget for quickbar slots not displaying on the HUD when using a controller on mobile.

Save the World Bug Fixes

Fixed Ninjas losing the ability to use abilities and search/loot if they used Leap attack after Mantis Leap.

Creative Mode Bug Fixes

Fixed torches not appearing in Creative.

Explosive Weapon Availability Adjustment

We've heard recent feedback that it seemed like explosive weapons were dropping too frequently. After doing some investigating, we discovered that drop rates were a little higher than we’d like.

Based on that, we’ve just released a hotfix to reduce the chance of receiving an explosive weapon in chests from 4.13% to 3.08%

I think this might be a possible hint from Epic but I haven't seen anyone talking about it.

I was curious and went to week 10 loading screenlocation.You can see that landscape looks different.

On loading screen there is no huge mountain like we have currently.

Behind this big mountain Sun goes down and Moon rises.

Also there is a single,small light coming from the mountain you can see it better during nighttime(used red circle to make it easier to find)

My theory is,leaked Earthquake event might hit not only our island but also break this mountain located NE to pieces.

Maybe someone from The Prisoner people is trying to comunicate with him using Fire Signals.

Why would someone want to break this mountain?If The Prisoner has ability to do it or someone else(maybe Earth King) then it would allow Sun to bright longer during the day and melt Ice faster and reveal to us what is hidden under the Iceberg in Season 8.

Reverted New Ping Calculation Method

Hey folks,

We've seen some questions regarding lower ping levels (including 0) displayed in the UI as well as the Connection Timeout error being displayed, even while under good network conditions. We wanted to drop by and give a little bit of clarity around what's going on here.

You may have seen the following line in the v7.30 Patch Notes:

Fixed an issue in the Net Debug UI that would cause it to show a ping value that was too high.

We discovered an issue with our current method of calculating ping that was causing displayed ping values to sometimes be higher than those the player was actually receiving.

This was creating instances where the ping values displayed weren't indicative or representative of what the player was actually experiencing. In v7.30 we began testing a new method of calculating ping, which should display numbers with a more accurate value to the player's connection to a server. Separately, we also added an indicator to the UI to display a “Connection Lost” notification when under poor network conditions.

However, we’ve seen your reports that the “Connection Lost” message is displaying even under good conditions, that some players are seeing pings values of 0, and that FPS can have a direct effect on the displayed ping value. Due to this, we’ve decided to temporarily revert these changes so we can polish out the remaining kinks before adding thing back in.

Once we’re ready to add these changes back in, we’ll also provide a more technical and detailed blog on this new Ping Calculation method and how it works. We look forward to your questions and feedback once that blog is ready!

“Thirsting” is part of the game. Please stop trying to find ways to prevent thirsting.

For example:

If I’m in a 2v1 situation and I manage to isolate a player from the Duo and I manage to knock them, I’m killing them immediately. This prevents a potential revive if I need to heal. Also, if I need mats/heals etc, I’m immediately killing your teammate. End of.

“Thirsting” will always be a part of this game. Don’t like it? Don’t play Fortnite. It’s a Battle Royale game. It’s going to happen.

I’m not going to knock Streamer[341] and leave him knocked because I saw a post on Reddit saying “we as a community need to stop thirsting!!”. I’m immediately killing him, taking his loot/mats, and then focusing on the next player that I need to deal with.

I have no idea why these posts are becoming more and more frequent. There’s already a generous 3 second delay before you can finish off your opponent. If you’re in a hectic situation, that time alone can be the difference between you managing to get the kill off or their teammate knocking/eliminating you.

Not trying to come across as arrogant here, but “thirsting” really isn’t going anywhere. It’ll be in this game until the end of time when Patch v500 releases and we’re all flying around on Donkeys with RPG and Lazer attachments.

Epic's Response to Ranked Mode?

Ranked mode has been discussed on A TON of major posts on /r/FortNiteBR and we still have 0 response from Epic on the topic...

Go into a lobby now vs. In season 3 and you can instantly feel the difference. Sweaties and Bots make up unfair lobbies and make the game boring for Sweats and disgustingly hard for newer/casual players.

It is clear after all of this balance discussion, a permanent competitive mode is needed to separate casual and try hard play.

As a "sweaty tryhard" player myself, I feel like I am pushing this game away from the masses every game because I realize how stupid it is that I can kill an entire squad and ruin their fun just because they are new players... On the flip side, I want a competitive ranked mode so I can try hard, play against good players, and re balance the game from a competitive standpoint.

Epic responds to a bunch of posts on this subreddit, but have gone quiet when it comes to the ranked mode issue.. We know they browse this subreddit often and respond often so why is there no statement on this issue?

Mods vs. Community Event

We had issues overall yesterday, but we've smoothed things out for Day 2. If you haven't already, join the /r/FortniteBR discord and follow the server rules to assign yourself the Player role, then watch for pings in the NA/EU 1 million lobby channels to know when to join matches. Priority in matches goes to new players, but returning players may join if there are vacancies. You can only win a main prize one time, and a second, smaller prize for a second victory. No prizes will be awarded for winning more than twice.

The maps will be free-for-all maps, with winners decided by most eliminations. Tiebreaker can be determined by a 1v1 in a smaller map if necessary.

Listen to the host. Don't talk over them, don't prematurely start a mini game. We had issues with that yesterday and will forfeit prizes if it happens again today.

Once you are in the VC: Wait for the host to tell you you may join, and then join their creative server. Do not join their party. The host must enter the Creative Hub solo.

After the game, leave the VC so the mods can prepare for the next match and send out a ping. Any questions can be directed to the host, or the mods who are around in support. Utilize the discussion channels and the !event command if necessary. Do not ping Discord staff unless it is urgent.

We will have two lobby VCs: NA and EU.

Game prize winners will be contacted early this week.

Instead of useless tips on loading screens add the latest patch notes!

I always see these useless tips on loading screens.

Why not add some of the latest patch notes!

Examples:
-Quad Launcher is now vaulted.
-We have added the a new weapon! The Scoped revolver
-Spawn rate of golden brutes have increased 100%
-Minigun will now overheat after 6 seconds make your shots count!

For the players that don’t use Reddit or check patch notes they still can stay somewhat in the loop.

Mods vs. Community Event

Using community-created maps from our sister sub /r/FortniteCreative, we will pit the /r/FortniteBR subscribers against the moderators on January 26th and 27th in Creative Mode. Starting at noon EST on both days, we’ll use the /r/FortniteBR discord to coordinate matches. Users will compete against the mods on team deathmatch or free-for-all maps, and we’ll rotate users in and out along with participating mods.

Dates

January 26th and 27th

Times

Starting at noon EST, with end time around 3 or 4 PM EST each day.

Servers

We will have two lobby VCs: NA and EU

How it Works

We’ll ping in the discord server when we are starting a lobby, announcing the map and game type. Spots for each match will be first come, first serve in the VCs. Anywhere from 2-5 mods should be in each match to ensure plenty of community members can play.

Prizes

We have Epic-themed prizes and Reddit Coins for the games. SteelSeries has also returned to donate prizes for charity donations!

Epic-themed prizes and Reddit Coins will be awarded on a map-by-map basis. We’ll announce how to win in discord before each map. Both winners and random participants are eligible to win these prizes, so be sure to play!

How to Win

The Epic-themed prizes and Reddit Coins will be selected from a pool of users who participate in Mods vs. Community matches over the weekend, as well as the winners of those matches.

For every $1 USD donated to our Pencils of Promise charity drive between now and 2/1, 12:00am EST, you will receive 1 entry into the drawing. The drawing will be recorded and posted with the winners approximately 1 week after the charity drive ends. We will be reaching out to the winners no later than February 15th, and they must confirm response within 48 hours of being contacted or the prize will be forfeited and redrawn. Contact will be made through the email provided when donating to the charity drive. All 3 SteelSeries prize packs will be in this drawing. You may only win a donated prize one time. In the event a winner is chosen and they do not meet the delivery requirements of a prize they won, we will first work with them to attempt to have the prize shipped to a valid delivery address. New game mode concept: Assassins

At the start of the match each player gets a target. On their map is the location of that player. You can only kill your target or the person hunting you. You can only be killed by your target or the person hunting you. If you kill your target, then you get their target. Last one standing wins! Get this as many likes as possible so epic can add it and stop 3rd partying once and for all!!!

To celebrate reaching 1 million subscribers (we’re so close!), we wanted to do something meaningful and impactful. We have decided on a /r/FortniteBR fundraiser. Let’s donate money for a good cause!

Leave a comment in this thread to nominate a charity for our sub to support. We'll use CrowdRise to support whichever charity the community picks in a week-long drive beginning with our event next weekend (January 26th-27th). More on that event below.

Details on how to nominate:

• Top-level comments in this thread should be charity nominations. To be approved, your comment should contain a serious, CrowdRise-able charity suggestion with an explanation of what the charity is and the impact it has. Here is an example of a great nomination comment!

Have an option to remove shadows and motion blur for console.

There is absolutely no reason for us to be forced to play with high/epic shadows and motion blur, it’s utterly ridiculous why these aren’t options we can disable yet on consoles.

If you’re going to comment such things as ‘They can’t it’s down to Microsoft and Sony’ then I’d like you to provide proof of this instead of parroting what you’ve seen somebody else say. There’s numerous console games that allow for different graphical settings. Forza Horizon 4 on the Xbox One X for example has a ‘Performance mode’ which lowers the quality etc and allows the game to run at 60fps over the standard 30.

Just dropped my first 20 bomb in solos!

I have been playing for a while and I'll admit this game is quite challenging. I like to do the battle pass missions the most and play games like team rumble, 50 v 50 etc.

Today in a solo game, everything was clicking. I was lasering everyone and it even felt as if some of the enemies were teaming! Still, I was able to outbuild and land my shots.

I tend to get discouraged but after slaying 20 zombies I felt pretty good with my game. Can only improve from here!

In the interest of not flooding the sub with the same bug post, and to make it a little easier for Epic to keep track of all the bugs reported on this sub, we thought it'd be a good idea to keep all of them condensed to one thread. Epic should add a laboratory PoI that teases upcoming items...

I thought it might be cool if Epic added a science facility or engineering laboratory that teased upcoming items that are going to be added to the game.

Imagine if the upcoming Boost Board was enclosed behind unbreakable glass for a few weeks/month. Players could drop in, take a look at it, maybe see a few rough sketches of potential future items on a wipe board? Maybe even add a button that plays a sound file from an upcoming item. There would be a lot of creative ways they could present this.

Ice Storm Spawn Rate Adjustments

Hey folks,

We’ve just released a hotfix to make some adjustments to the spawn rate of the Ice Legion. Previous to this hotfix, spawn rates started low and gradually increased as the match progressed. We’ve now flipped these rates so that more Ice Legion spawn earlier in the game and gradually spawn less as the match progresses.

In addition to this, we’ve also heard your feedback that Golden Brutes were too difficult to find. We apologize for the oversight and have increased the spawn rate of Golden Brutes to a more forgiving level.

This will give more opportunity to progress through the Ice Storm Challenges earlier in the match while also allowing players in the late game to focus on earning that Victory Royale without having to focus as much on the Ice Legion.

Spawn Rate Adjustments

Increased the spawn rate of all Ice Legion in the early game.
- This spawn rate gradually decreases as the game progresses.
- Increased Circle 1 Ice Legion spawns by 100%
- Increased Circle 2 Ice Legion spawns by 20%
Reduced the spawn rate of all Ice Legion towards the end game.
- Decreased Circle 3 Ice Legion spawns by 80%
- Decreased Circle 4 Ice Legion spawns by 80%
- Decreased Circle 5 Ice Legion spawns by 80%
Increased the spawn rate of Golden Brutes by 100%
- This will compound on top of the the spawn rate changes mentioned above.

20 Golden Ice Brutes? Are you serious, Epic?

I've played the game for almost 7 hours since zombies were reintroduced and have found a single golden brute. They expect us to kill 20 in a single week???

It should be 3, max.

Edit 2: Since this post has gained a lot of traction, I want to explain my thinking better.

I'm totally fine with difficult challenges. I want more rewards for skilled players. But this challenge is hardly skill based. Killing them is difficult but not very hard with the right weapons. It's just too RNG based. You have to find Golden Brutes, which are rare, and kill them without getting killed by another player. And these spawn towards the end of the game, so getting killed is common.

There are a few solutions that Epic could take.

Change the amount of Brutes needed to 3 or 5. This is a much more reasonable amount.
Increase the spawn rate across the board. This will make killing them easier. A possible solution could be making Golden Brutes spawn at the beginning of matches, or whenever you destroy a Ice Block, so that people can get it without having to camp until endgame.
Include Elite Brutes as well. These are a more common, weaker version of the Golden Brutes. Adding these into the pool would help make it easier.
Give everyone the progress for free, although I think this would be cheap and I think they would be better off keeping some challenge.
(And this is something I think should happen anyway) Add back Team Terror and spawn a ton of Golden Brutes, so everyone can kill a few and get progress.

Finally, make it so assists on the Brutes count as kills, so people can do this easily with a team.

Does Epic have any awareness of how excruciatingly long these event challenges take?

I played at least two hours of solos today in which my main goal was farming the ice monsters to complete the challenges. In those two hours, I've killed like 45/100 Brutes and 110/250 Fiends. At this rate, it's going to take me at least 5 hours of playing just to do those two challenges. There's like 9 more after these ones.

For starters, if you land in a vacant corner of the map to farm, you're not even going to have time to kill anything because you'll have maybe 3 minutes to do so before you have to run to the circle. Not to mention you won't have any materials or loot so chances are you die to the first person you see.

If you land somewhere close to the first circle and start farming, you're just going to get clapped by someone who raided a POI and has guns and loot while you're killing monsters with a white tactical shotgun.

If by the grace of god you land in the circle AND get good loot to farm, the monsters basically spawn at rates of either 0 or 1 per 'spawn' from the pylon, meaning you're going to need to wait for at least 200+ 'spawns' to kill everything you need.

These challenges are utterly ridiculous and it's impossible to play the game the way it's meant to be played while completing these challenges.

Edit: No, I’m not whining free items should be easier to get. If I had it my way, there would be no event and no free items. A glider and a gun skin isn’t worth having the game destroyed for two weeks. Id much rather have normal Fortnite and no challenges. My problem with these challenges is you literally cannot play Fortnite the way Fortnite is meant to be played and still complete them.

Yes, this is absolutely correct. However, since Epic forces you to participate in this event by making it mandatory in the three main modes, I don't believe this is a good argument. I would care a whole lot less if I was still able to play normal solos.
